Gita Jayanti is the day when Lord Krishna revealed the knowledge of Bhagavad-gita to his friend Arjuna. Each year it falls on the eleventh day of the waxing moon of Margaseersha month.
Bhagavad –gita is the transcendental dialogue between Lord Krishna and Arjuna spoken at the battlefield of Kurushetra almost 5000 years ago. The Bhagavad-gita is organized in 18 chapters and contains 700 verses. In its true meaning, the work ‘yoga’ means ‘the process of linking’. It refers to the process of linking ourselves and our activities to the Supreme Lord. Bhagavad-gita answers questions regarding the existence of the body and soul, material and spiritual world, duties of man and much more. Anyone who reads the Bhagavad-gita daily is assured of spiritual advancement and knowledge.
