Question: Was George Harrison religious? If so, what religion did he belong to?

Answer: Yes. It is a less known fact by the most of the die hard Beatles’ fans, that their lead, George Harrison lived a profoundly spiritual life, in his later days.

The religion he followed, is Krishna Consciousness. It is the eternal characteristic of every living entity, and it is not ‘Hinduism’.

According to Krishna Consciousness, whatever religion you follow, if that increases your love for God, then that is first class religion.

If it does not increase your love for God, however, then it is considered ‘cheating’.

That religion was propounded in the western world, by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

George was a disciple of His Divine Grace, who was the founder acarya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, abbreviated as ISKCON.

He was highly influenced by this Krishna Consciousness movement, or the Hare Krishna Movement.

He also sponsored one of His Divine Grace’s books, the ‘Krishna book’, with $19,000$ and also wrote an introductory note for the same.

Not only that much, but he also donated his own manor, for the temple of Krishna, which is now known as ‘The Bhaktivedanta Manor’, London.

Being his disciple and a singer, he sang many ‘Krishna’ songs, or the songs awakening one’s love for God, and also produced a handful others as well.

Some of those were-
It is “He”
Maya Love
My Sweet Lord
Far East Man
Awaiting On You All
Hear My Lord
Give Me Love
Living In The Material World
Only saviour

Radha Krishna Temple album (he produced this album, a track from which appeared in the Top 10 charts of the year)

He even changed the word ‘Hallelujah’ to ‘Hare Krishna’, as they sound almost the same, in making western pop equivalents of some of his songs.
